UNDATED (04/29/25) — The White House restated that the deadline for obtaining the “Real ID” to access air travel or federal facilities will remain a week from today. Kentucky lawmakers had requested the deadline be extended, citing long lines and wait times at licensing facilities. Beginning May 7, Real ID-compliant identification will be required to board domestic flights and enter certain federal buildings. Federal officials say about 80-percent of travelers nationwide have the Real ID, but the number is believed to be significantly less in Kentucky. Alternative documents, such as a passport or military ID, are also viable options.
