
(UPDATED. 8am Thu) — Nearly 80 firefighters from Breckinridge and Meade Counties along with law enforcement and other emergency personnel responded to an apartment building fire late Wednesday afternoon in Irvington.
According to the Irvington Fire Department, units were called to Landon Lane just before 5:45 Central time found a working structure fire and vehicle fire. The 12 apartments along with the adjacent building were evacuated. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control about an hour later. There no civilian or firefighter injuries. There was one animal fatality, but but three dogs and three cats were rescued.
The right side of the structure was gutted by the fire, with the left side of the building suffering some fire, smoke and water damage. The property manager over the apartments assisted in providing hotel rooms for the displaced families at 104 Landon until more permanent housing can be obtained. Red Cross has offered to assist displaced families as well. About 30 people in the building were impacted.
The residents at 102 Landon Lane were able to return to their homes.

A cause of the fire has not been determined, with the State Fire Marshall’s Office expected to arrive Thursday to investigate. Units remained on-scene until around 10:30 Central time Wednesday and will continue to monitor the situation for possible flareups.

IRVINGTON (04/09/25) — Firefighters from Breckinridge and Meade Counties were called to a report of an apartment fire in Irvington late Wednesday afternoon. Units were called to the Park Place Apartment complex on Landon Lane just before 5:45 Wednesday afternoon where initial units found flames shooting from the building facing Highway 60. Smoke from the fire could be seen drifting through downtown Irvington.

Units were still extinguishing the fire as of late Wednesday night, but the 12-unit complex gutted on the west side with fire, smoke and water damage on the other side. The other building was not involved and no injuries were reported. The occupants were being housed in Brandenburg for the evening.
