
BARDSTOWN (03/20/25) — The Nelson County Sheriff and his chief deputy indicted on charges of abuse of public trust, theft by deception, forgery and official misconduct were in court Thursday in Bardstown. Sheriff Ramon Peineroa and Deputy Chief Brandon Bryan are accused of selling seized cars to unauthorized buyers instead of putting them up for public auction. A special judge appointed turned down a prosecution motion for no contact between the two, but did prohibit access to the department’s evidence room. The judge also ordered no contact with the deputies who reported the allegations. The next hearing is scheduled for June.
