HARDINSBURG (05/18/26) — Breck United has announced that three million dollars was appropriated by the Kentucky General Assembly for the construction of a new amphitheater overlooking Rough River Lake.
The facility will be able to host concerts, theatrical productions, and other live entertainment for up to 2,000 people. There are also plans to use the lawn space throughout the year for a variety of community gatherings and opportunities to promote local small businesses.
The funding comes by way of House Bill 900, a one-time spending bill promoting economic growth and infrastructure investment.
State Representative Josh Calloway added, “Breckinridge County is a great place to raise a family, and every investment we make helps it grow even stronger.”
State Senator Stephen Meredith says, “I’m thrilled to be able to help secure the funding for this project which will provide yet another tool in Breckinridge County’s economic development efforts to develop a diversified business climate. Entertainment and tourism are two of the fastest growing businesses in Kentucky and now Breckinridge County can be a major participant in this market; creating new jobs and new sources of revenue.”
