HARDINSBURG (05/02/26) — A Leitchfield man is facing multiple charges after trying to flee from sheriff’s deputies during a weekend pursuit.
The Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Office reported a deputy observed a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction along Highway 259 South near the intersection with 690 Saturday night, nearly hitting an on-coming vehicle before turning onto 690, where he continued in the wrong lane.
A traffic stop was initiated, however the driver, 33-year-old Donald Ray Coogle, fled from the stop as the deputy got out of his vehicle, travelling along Se Ree Loop and Richard Moore Road, where Coogle’s vehicle ran into a landscaping wall.
He tried to flee on foot but was apprehended in a nearby wooded area.
Lodged in the Breckinridge County Detention Center, Coogle faces charges of fleeing/evading, wanton endangerment, speeding, and operating a vehicle under the influence among other counts.
