CENTRAL CITY (04/14/26) — What began as a welfare check in Central City last week ended with a police pursuit and a woman taken into custody on nearly 20 charges. As police approached a stopped vehicle in the middle of 2nd Street last Wednesday night, driver Elonte Allen sped off, nearly hitting a police officer. The chase went on to the Western Kentucky Parkway, where spike strips were used to stop the vehicle. Allen initially refused to follow police orders to exit the vehicle, but later surrendered without further incident. Allen is charged with wanton endangerment, fleeing/evading police, speeding and resisting arrest among others.
