(UPDATE) KSP Release Additional Info On Shooting Of Crittenden County Deputy Sheriff

STURGIS (04/03/26) — Additional details have been released on Thursday’s shooting in Crittenden County that left a deputy sheriff in critical condition.

Kentucky State Police said deputies along with Community-Based Services staff went to a home near Sturgis to serve paperwork when gunfire was with the suspect, 60-year-old Ronnie Phillips, who was fatally wounded.

Sheriff’s Deputy Rick Coyle was struck by gunfire from the suspect, airlifted to the hospital, and remains in critical condition at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. A female victim was safely removed from the residence.

The incident remains under investigation.
