HARNED (03/19/26) — One person was airlifted following an accident involving a semi hauling grain Thursday morning near Harned. According to the Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle driven by 71-year-old Michael Schafer was northbound in the 500 block of Kentucky 1401 when a rear wheel of the trailer ran off the road, causing the truck and trailer to flip over. Schafer was extricated from the cab by deputies and Breck Central EMS personnel, transported to the Breckinridge Memorial Helipad then taken to Air Methods. The road was closed into the afternoon for cleanup. Harned and McDaniels Fire Departments, Breckinridge County Emergency Management, Kentucky State Police, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement and the Department of Highways also responded to the scene.
