Authorities in Meade County are asking for the public’s help in solving a 2023 murder case. Officials held a press conference Friday (2/27) continuing their efforts to generate leads that could help solve the murder of Rhonda Aebersold.

On June 5, 2023,  The Meade County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a possible home break-in at a residence on Old Mill Road near Brandenburg Station. Deputies found Aebersold dead inside. Detectives believe it was an isolated event with no additional threat to the public. On Friday, Meade County Sheriff Phillip Wimpee said they still are not releasing how Aebersold died, as it could jeopardize the case.

Aebersold’s daughter, Shelbi Saylor, said she believes detectives from multiple police agencies around the region are doing everything that they can. Police are waiting for results from the Kentucky State Police Crime Lab and following new leads each day in the case.  A $3,000 reward is offered for any information that leads to an arrest in the case.

Anyone with any information is urged to call the Meade County Sheriff’s Anonymous Tip Line at 270-422-Hope (4673).
