
2/16/2026—The Cloverport City Council approved a bid from G and N Excavating and Trucking at their regular meeting Monday evening. The bid of $49,860.00 was for the watermain extension project on Sand and Gravel Pit Road.
Code Enforcement Board member Kyle Brown said the fence around the property on Main Street was erected by the state and its purpose was to keep people away from the building. He said the State Fire Marshal’s Office is in charge of the project.
Mayor Candy Weatherholt thanked volunteers who helped with snow removal. A volunteer appreciation lunch will be held this Saturday at Bert’s Restaurant.
The Sheriff’s department received 45 calls for service in January,
The Fire Department made 18 runs in January. Chief Zach Lucas said Fire Hazard season has begun.
Public Works Director Eddie Lee said he needs additional employees, including a CDL Licensed Driver. He said three fire hydrants will need to be dug out.
David Parker has been named to the Parks and Recreation Board. The playground equipment should be installed in March.
Mayor Weatherholt said one person is needed to serve on the Planning and Zoning Commission.
