
2/2/2026—The Irvington City Council heard the first reading of five ordinances at their regular meeting Monday evening.
The first ordinance amends the Business and Occupational License Tax Ordinance. It deals with filing requirements and penalties for the Occupational Tax.
The second ordinance establishes the annual rate of pay for the Mayor and City Council. A Councilmember’s salary will increase from $900 per year to $1,400 per year. The mayor’s salary will increase from $1,500 per year to $2,000 per year. The new salaries take effect January 1, 2027.
The third ordinance amends duties of the Health, Safety, and Welfare Officer.
The fourth ordinance amends payment procedures of water, sewer, and sanitation service bills.
The fifth ordinance sets a rate of $1,500 for water tap-on fees for a new meter connection and a $1,500 fee for all connections to the sewer system.
In other business, the Council approved a motion to purchase and finance a 2026 F-150 Ford 4×4 for the Police Department at a cost of $55,598.00.
The Council approved two out-of-town business licenses for Tom Baxter and Acculevel. Three new in-town business licenses were approved for Pile-Tucker, BHI, and JC’s.
The Fire Department made 21 runs in January. Eight firefighters have signed up for fire school.
There will be a controlled burn at the city’s burn pile on February 25.
The Code Enforcement Board will meet February 18 at 6:00pm ET.
In a Special Called Meeting last week, the Council approved the second reading of an ordinance declaring the city’s intent to annex land located on the north side of US 60.
