UNDATED (01/14/26) — Two accidents Wednesday afternoon kept responders busy for a few hours but fortunately had no serious injuries.
The Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Office said the first occurred around 12:30 in the 400 block of Ephesus Church Road near Harned, where a southbound Jeep Patriot impacted with a northbound Ford Focus, causing the Focus to go into a nearby field and the Jeep into a ditch. Two occupants of the Patriot- driver Heather Kelkites of Harned and passenger Sonya Walker and two juveniles in the Focus were checked out by Breck Central EMS, but were not transported. The Harned Fire Department also responded to the scene.
The second occurred just before 1:45 Wednesday afternoon in the 14-thousand block of North Highway 261 near Webster: a southbound Ford Flex driven by Kathleen Jones of Irvington had slowed for a northbound Expedition driven by Alabama resident Matthew Walden that was negotiating a curve when the northbound vehicle dipped off the shoulder into some mud, then went out of control, clipping the right front quarter of the Flex. Jones was checked out by EMS, but not transported. Walden was not injured. The Webster Fire Department also responded to the scene.
