
11/3/2025—The Irvington City Council heard the first reading of an ordinance establishing a Business and Occupational License tax at their regular meeting Monday evening. The proposed Business Tax is 0.15%, capped at 3.0%, and the Occupational License Tax is 0.25%, capped at 0.50%. Monies generated will be placed in the General Fund. The second reading of the ordinance will be held at a Special Called Meeting November 24 at 7:00pm ET. Prior to the meeting, a Public Hearing will be held from 6:00pm ET to 7:00pm ET.
In other business, Paul Reynolds, with Bluegrass Engineering, told the Council two easements are necessary for the water main extension project at the US 60 Industrial Park. Reynolds presented an invoice of $20,200.00 for design services. The invoice will be forwarded to Breck United, who is funding the project.
The Council approved a one-time Christmas pay increase of $500.00 for full-time employees and $250.00 for part-time employees.
The Council approved three new business licenses: Park’s Transporting; Three Crosses Tree Services; and Kauffeld Brothers Construction.
A new roof was installed on City Hall at a cost of $9,500.00.
The Police Department has received an Attorney General’s Grant to fund four sets of body armor and a ballistic shield. All police vehicles have been repaired.
The Fire Department made 19 runs in October. They have received a $3,250.00 Thermal Imaging Grant.
A Veteran’s Day Ceremony will be held November 8 at 11:00am ET.
The Irvington Christmas Parade is November 22 at 6:00pm ET. Residents are encouraged to place a wreath with a red bow on their doors for the parade.
