SPORTS: Tiger Football Tops Knox; Local Golfer Honored; ‘Cats Fall In Final Scrimmage

FORT KNOX (10/30/25) — Jacob Spitzer ran for 247 yards and three touchdowns as the Breckinridge County Fighting Tiger Football team defeated Fort Knox, 50-6 on Thursday on post. Spitzer scored two of the three on 11-yard runs in the first quarter, but the Eagles countered with a touchdown late in the 1st to cut the lead to 14-6. Fort Knox was driving for a potential tying score in the 2nd quarter when Paxton DeWitt intercepted a pass and returned it for a score to put the game out of reach. DeWitt would add another interception in the 4th quarter to thwart another Knox drive. Hudson Wrenn ran for a pair of touchdowns while Aiden Burnette added a score to complete the Breckinridge County scoring. The Tigers won their third straight to improve to 5-5 ahead of a playoff game next Friday night at Spencer County.

LOUISVILLE (10/28/25) — More honors for Breckinridge County golfer Max DeHaven, who was named Boys’ 11-13 year-old Player of the Year by the Kentucky Junior Golf Association earlier this week.

LEXINGTON (10/30/25) — UK Basketball lost their final preseason exhibition game to Georgetown, 84-70, Thursday night at Rupp Arena. The Wildcats were led in scoring by Otega Oweh’s 17 but without guards Jaland Lowe and Denzel Aberdeen; both were out due to injuries. The Wildcats open the season on Tuesday of next week against Nichols.
