10/6/2025—The Irvington City Council approved a motion to repair a leak in the glass lined water tank at their regular meeting Monday evening.  Currens Construction will seal the exterior of the tank at a cost of $5,925.00.  Surplus funds from the Lon Dowell Water Main Extension project will pay for the repairs.

 

In other business, the Council approved amended engineering costs of $15,500.00 on the water line extension project at the Industrial Park on Highway 60.  Breck United, which is funding the project, requested additional capacity for the sewer line.  It was noted that easements still need to be attained on the project.

 

The Council discussed drafting an ordinance dealing with soliciting.  They also discussed amendments to the current ordinance dealing with golf carts and Special Purpose Vehicles.  No action was taken on either ordinance.

 

The Council approved a motion to update the names on the city’s credit card.

 

The Council approved five new business licenses. They are: The Shield Company; PM Services; Dad’s Salvage; Plemmon’s Excavating; and Rice Contracting LLC.

 

The Council approved a bid of $7,450.00 by Pool’s Tree and Crane Service, LLC to remove two trees.  One is on Maple Street, and the other is behind the Post Office.

 

Fire Chief Jeremy Hougland said the new fire truck is being paid for with state aid funds.

 

The Council set Trick or Treat hours.  They are October 31 from 5:00 to 9:00 EST.  There will be a Trunk or Treat at Eva Carmen Park that evening from 6:00 to 8:00pm EST.

 

A Veteran’s ceremony will be held November 8 at 11:00am EST, with refreshments to follow at the Depot.

 

The annual Christmas Parade is set for November 22 at 6:00pm EST.
