WALTON (08/28/25) — Two Boone County deputy sheriffs were shot and wounded Thursday night while attempting to serve an arrest warrant at a home in Walton. The sheriff’s department says as deputies entered the residence, the occupant, later identified as 39-year-old Justin Chapman fired multiple shots, striking the two deputies. The two were taken to University of Cincinnati Hospital, with one later released and the other is in improving condition. Chapman then barricaded himself in the residence as other officers arrived. SWAT personnel later found Chapman dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The incident remains under investigation.
