
VINE GROVE (08/20/25) — A building used by the Vine Grove Fire Department was destroyed in a fire early Wednesday morning. It’s believed a lightning strike ignited the fire around 2am Eastern at the building on North Mill Street. The department lost three trucks in the fire, including the antique 1941 fire engine that was used in parades and fire fighter funerals. A 3,000 gallon tanker truck was also destroyed as well as many of the department’s supplies and hoses. No injuries were reported. The State Fire Marshal’s Office is continuing the investigation.
