
8/19/2025—The Hardinsburg City Council approved the first reading of an ordinance setting 2025 tax rates at a Special Called Meeting Tuesday evening. The real and personal property tax rate is 33.0 cents per $100 assessed valuation. The motor vehicle tax rate is 33.0 cents, and the watercraft tax rate is 31.0 cents. The Fire Department tax rate is 6.0 cents.
In other business, Mayor Wayne Macy introduced Jenny D. Ford as the new City Treasurer. Macy said he will interview an applicant for the City Clerk position. An assistant city clerk from another city is willing to help on a part-time basis.
Macy announced that the Vietnam Veterans Memorial is returning to Hardinsburg from October 30 through November 1.
Ben Mingus asked the city to display student art work during Red Ribbon Week, which is the last week in October.
The Police Department received 182 calls for service in July. They worked five thefts and made four felony and five misdemeanor arrests. They worked five drug and alcohol related offenses and issued nine city citations. They worked one injury and five non-injury accidents.
The Fire Department made 38 runs in July.
Four code enforcement cases have been resolved, and five cases are ongoing. There will be a Planning and Zoning Commission meeting August 28 at 5:00pm to consider a zoning change on property at US 60 and Fred Phillips Lane from Agriculture to R1.
There will be a Trunk or Treat Cruise-in October 18 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the City Park.
The Halloween Parade will be October 31 beginning at 4:00pm. Trick or Treating will be allowed from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.
The Christmas Parade will be December 13 beginning at 5:00pm.
Before adjourning, the Council discussed the need to repair the “Welcome to Hardinsburg” signs and specifications for “tiny” homes.
