BARDSTOWN (07/16/25) — One of the suspects convicted in the death of Crystal Rogers is asking for a new trial. A motion filed for Joseph Lawson argues that the court should have allowed him to be tried separately from Brooks Houck. A motion also argues that he was not allowed to mount a proper defense to recorded testimony by Houck entered by the Commonwealth.  Houck and Joseph Lawson were tried together, while Lawson’s father, Steven, was tried separately for his role in the case. All three men were convicted. Final sentencing for all three men is scheduled for next month.
