7/14/2025—The Breckinridge County Board of Education approved construction documents for the Middle School Campus Project at their regular meeting Monday evening.  In a related matter, the Board approved test-well bore and conductivity tests on the project.  T and M Drilling, from Columbia, KY. will conduct the tests for $20,000.

 

In other business, the Board approved continued participation in the Community Eligibility Provision.  As a result, all students will receive free breakfast and lunch in the coming school year.

 

The Board approved 2026 District Funding Assurances.

 

The Board approved a revised form for the Area Technology Center Project.  The project will replace the roof, provide security vestibule and camera upgrades, as well as classroom renovations.  The estimated cost is $1,041,634.04.

 

The Board reviewed procedures for metal detectors at the Middle and High School.  They also reviewed Data Security Practices.

 

The Board approved an agreement with the Advanced Center for Orthopedics and Sports medicine from Owensboro, KY. for athletic training services.

 

The Board approved a contract with Already Autism Health for school-based therapy services.

 

The Board approved updated District Section 504 Forms and Procedures for Student Services.

 

The Board approved additional Traceable Communication Systems for students participating in dual credit courses in the Kentucky Community and Technical College System.  They include Blackboard(Anthology), Outlook(kctcs.edu domain), and Starfish(EAB).

 

The second reading of the Annual Policy/Procedure Update was approved.

The Board approved a resolution adopting a Five Standards Superintendent Evaluation Pilot for the 2025/26 school year.

 

The Board approved out-of-attendance area requests.

 

At the beginning of the meeting, BCHS Principal Jonathan Bennet presented a review of activities at the High School.

 

Superintendent Dr. Nick Carter recognized Chief Financial Officer Brandon Hayes.  Hayes has been named a Certified School Finance Manager.

 

Breckinridge County Education Association President Melody Mingus recognized  other officers of BCEA. They are Vice President-Beverly Lucas; Secretary-Candy Davis; and Treasurer-Jenni Owen.

 

In personnel matters, the following retirements were noted: Lesha Embry-Cook/Baker at BCMS and HES Teacher Pam Moore.

 

The first day of school for students is Monday, August 11.
