Ex-Fire Chief Indicted For Taking Funds From Western Kentucky Department

MORGANFIELD (07/03/25) — A former fire chief in Union County has been indicted on charges of taking funds from a fire department. A  Grand Jury indicted Chad Cullen, 41, of Sturgis, on one count of Abuse of Public Trust (a Class C Felony, punishable by 5-10 years in prison, if convicted). The indictment states that between January 2022 and December 2024, the then-chief took more than 50-thousand dollars from the Sturgis department, then used the money to make “personal purchases and non-authorized expenditures.” Cullen was lodged in the Webster County Detention Center following his arrest.
