WASHINGTON (06/18/25) — President Trump plans to nominate a Grayson County native for the Federal bench, three years after a similar move by former President Biden sparked a confrontation between Kentucky U.S. Senators. Chad Meredith is a former solicitor general for the Commonwealth; he was nominated by Biden despite arguing for a number of pro-life state measures. That nomination was endorsed by Senator Mitch McConnell but opposed by Senator Rand Paul. Biden withdrew the nomination, which led Paul to accuse McConnell of cutting a deal with the White House not to push the nomination. No word how Paul will respond this time.
