BOWLING GREEN (06/04/25) — A week after his conviction, attorneys for Steven Lawson are asking to throw out last week’s verdict and declare a new trial.
Lawson was convicted on charges of conspiracy to commit murder and evidence tampering and was sentenced to 17 years in prison in connection to the 2015 death of Crystal Rogers of Bardstown.
In filings made Wednesday, attorneys argued on multiple grounds, including lack of time to prepare, not allowing DNA evidence into the trial, and violation of court rules by the victim’s family and supporters.
Trials for two more suspects are scheduled for later in the month.
