UNDATED (09/30/26) — October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the Hardinsburg Post Office is supporting the cause by promoting the sale of the breast Cancer Research semi postal stamp with fun decorations and activities.
The local noted that breast cancer has touched most of the community and purchase of the stamp to mail letters, pay bills or send cards to loved ones is an easy way to keep attention on research for better prevention treatment and survivorship outcomes.
Through August of 2026, more than 1.2 billion breast Cancer Research stamps have been sold, bringing the total revenue raised to more than $99.9 million.
By law 70% of the net amount raised is transferred to the National Institutes of Health and 30% is transferred to the medical research program at the Department of Defense.
The price of a semi postal stamp pays for the first-class single piece postage rate in effect at the time of purchase plus an amount to fund causes determined to be in the national public interest.
Other semi postal stamps include Save Vanishing Species, Healing PTSD and Alzheimer’s stamps.
On October 6th, the Postal Service will issue the ‘Know the Facts about Fentanyl” semi postal stamp.
