8/31/2026—The Cloverport City Council approved a motion to reinstate a 401A plan for city employees at a Special Called Meeting Monday evening. The plan was previously discussed but never implemented. The amount of the city’s contribution will be determined at a later date.
In other business, the Council approved a motion to separate the Drug Enforcement Account budget line-item from the Police Department account.
The Council discussed the contract for Police Chief Robert French. French has not signed the contract. French is also serving as the School Resource Officer.
The Council approved a motion to create a budget line-item for School Resource Officer expenses.
The Council discussed a proposal by Jimco Hauling and Removal to collect garbage from 188 out of town customers. The council will finalize the agreement at a Special Called Meeting on Thursday, September 3 at 6:00pm.
The Council plans to set tax rates for the 2026/27 fiscal year at the Special Called Meeting on Thursday.
The Council discussed updating the city’s animal control ordinance and amending the pay scale for city employees. No action was taken.
The Council entered executive session to discuss pending litigation but took no action.
