
HARDINSBURG (05/19/26) — 2nd District Magistrate Shane Beavin won the Republican primary for Breckinridge County Judge-Executive, defeated three opponents in Tuesday’s vote. Beavin receiving 1,627 to incumbent Maurice Lucas’ 1,360 votes. Kevin Bruce Drane finished third with 998 and Jesse Stephen Clark had 200. Beavin will face Independent Derek Powell in the November general election.
Incumbent Sheriff Billy Richardson won the GOP primary over former Sheriff Todd Pate, 2,336 to 1804. Barring an independent candidacy. Richardson will be re-elected in November.
Incumbent Tara Pile Shrewsberry won the Republican nomination and likely re-election with no Democrat opposition, defeating three challengers in Tuesday’s primary.
Winners in the Fiscal Court primaries: Jeremy Armstrong in the 1st, John Henning in the 2nd, Brett Mingus in the 5th and Brandon Henning in 6th.
Republican incumbent Josh Calloway won his party’s nomination in the 10th District State Representative’s race, defeated Julie Cantwell. He will face Democrat John Whipple in the November race.
In statewide races, 6th District Congressman Andy Barr won the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate race. He will face former Democrat State Representative Charles Booker in November.
Incumbent Second District Congressman Brett Guthrie won handily over two GOP primary opponents. The Republican will have Democrat Megan Wingfield, who bested three opponents to win the Democrat nomination.
