5/18/2026—The Cloverport City Council accepted the audit report for the Fiscal Year ending June 30, 2025 at their regular meeting Monday night.  The audit report was presented by Sammy Lee.  It stated that the city has total current assets of $778,864 and total current liabilities of $349,165.

 

In other business, the Council approved the second reading of an ordinance establishing an Entertainment District Center.  It will be on West Main Street between Elm and Center Streets.  Patrons will be allowed to consume alcoholic beverages (no spirits) within the boundaries during special events.

 

The Council approved a Municipal Road Aid Co-op program agreement with the Kentucky Department of Transportation.  The city will receive $21, 452.46 to maintain and repair city streets.

 

The Council approved an inter local agreement with Breckinridge Fiscal Court.

 

Each Council member was given a copy of the proposed budget for the next Fiscal Year.  No action was taken.

 

The Fire Department made 14 runs in April.

 

Public Works Director Eddie Lee said he is repairing the fire hydrant on Elm Street.  The city has received four new dumpsters.  The Council discussed who will pay for a possible 2” water line at for the new laundry.  Before any action is taken, Lee said the size of the current water line must be determined.

 

The Council approved a motion to purchase wood for a trailer at a cost of $275.00.

 

Kyle Brown, Chairman of the Code Enforcement Board, said issues with the property at 224 West Main must be resolved by June 30.  He also said the city needs to draft an ordinance dealing with junk and inoperable vehicles. Five nuisance letters for high grass have been sent out.

 

A heavy trash pick-up is scheduled for May 28 and May 29.

 

Councilman Tim White said the city has been approved to receive $88,000 in FEMA funds.  The money will cover the cost of several projects, including repairs at the Highway 105 boat dock; the schoolhouse steps; fencing for the downtown playground; roof repairs for three buildings on Main Street; and a road slide on East Main Street.

 

Before adjourning, the Council discussed a problem with feral cats but took no action.
