Hardinsburg City Council

5/12/2026—The Hardinsburg City Council approved the second reading of an ordinance amending water, garbage, and sewer rates at their regular meeting Tuesday evening.  In-town customers rates on a 5/8”x3/4” line increase from $22.47 per 2,000 gallons to $23.45.  Each additional 1,000 gallons increase from $11.12 to $11.25.  Out-of-town customer rates increase from $36.15 per 2,000 gallons to $37.75.  Each additional 1,000 gallons increase from $13.31 to $13.50 per 1,000 gallons.  Water tokens are $2.00 for 200 gallons.

 

Residential sewer rates go from $21.94 to $22.00.

 

In-town garbage rates increase from $21.83 to $22.80.  Out-of-town rates go from $27.29 to $28.50.

 

In other business, the Council approved a bid of $48,604.67 from Scotty’s Contracting and Stone LLC to pave 3rd Street.  The resurfacing is between Tower  and Hardin Streets and should be completed within 30 days.

 

The Council approved a bid of $605,858.00 by Abbico Contracting LLC for wastewater improvements.  The project extends from Evanwood Apartments to the FFA Camp.  A $750,000 grant will cover the cost of the project.

 

The Council approved a bid of $25,611.00 by Phillips Sanitation for the 2013 Kenworth garbage truck.

 

The Council approved an Interlocal Agreement with Breckinridge Fiscal Court.

 

The Council approved a Mutual Road Aid Cooperative Program Resolution and Agreement between the City and the Kentucky Department of Transportation.  The city will receive $45,723.08 to repair and maintain streets.

 

The Council approved the first reading of an ordinance amending compensation for members of the Planning and Zoning Commission and Board of Adjustments.  Members will receive $25.00 per meeting, and Chairmen will receive $50.00 per meeting.

 

The Council approved a motion to purchase two new trucks.  They will replace 2009 Chevy Silverado, which will be surplused, and a 2012 GMC Sierra, which will be traded in.  One truck will be purchased this Fiscal Year, and the other will be purchased during the next Fiscal Year.

 

The Council was told the JEI Inc. of Custer will install a bulk water station at Rosetta/Corners Road and Highway 86.

 

Veolia Water Manager Brett Mingus said his staff read over 7,100 water meters in April.  A large trash pick-up is scheduled for May 20.

 

The Police Department received 201 calls for service in April. They made two felony and seven misdemeanor arrests.  They issued six city citations and 13 state citations.  They worked one theft, two injury accidents and nine non-injury accidents.  They had seven drug and alcohol related offenses.  Chief Terry Laslie and Assistant Chief Adam Lucas completed over 40 hours of in-service training.  Firearms qualification is scheduled for later this month.

 

The Fire Department made 34 runs in April.

 

The city issued one building permit in April.  Four code enforcements cases were resolved and five cases are ongoing.  The city is working on several properties with high grass.
