County Republicans Hold Weekend Debate At Breckinridge County Fairgrounds

HARDINSBURG (05/09/26) — The Breckinridge County Republican Party held a debate for candidates in the May 19th Primary on Saturday at the Breckinridge County Fairgrounds.

The four candidates for County Judge-Executive fielded questions over roads, equipment, personnel, budget and funding priorities…

 

The winner of the GOP primary will face Independent candidate Derek Powell in November.

Candidates for Breckinridge County Sheriff sparred over accountability and calls for service among other topics…

 

A third candidate, Duke Foster, did not participate in the event.

Two of the four candidates for Jailer fielded questions about Detention Center operations…

Candidates Ashley Board and Wayne Beauchamp were not in attendance at the event.

Barring an Independent candidate filing, the winners of the Sheriff and Jailer primaries would be unopposed in November.

The event also included appearances by candidates for 10th District State Representative and Fiscal Court Magistrate. Surrogates for U.S. Senate candidates spoke and/or were invited to make presentations at the event.

Excused in-person voting is taking place at the Courthouse on Monday (05/11) through Wednesday this week. No-excuse in-person early voting is Thursday (05/14) through Saturday (05/16) at the Courthouse from 8am to 4pm. Voting locations will be open Tuesday the 19th from 6am to 6pm.
