FRANKFORT (04/15/26) — One of the men found guilty in connection with the murder of Crystal Rogers wants to have his conviction thrown out. Joseph Lawson filed the appeal with the Kentucky Supreme Court this week. Lawson was sentenced to 25 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with physical evidence. A request for a new trial has already been denied by the state’s high court. Lawson was tried, along with Brooks Houck, Rogers’ then-boyfriend and Lawson’s father Steven. Houck was convicted of murder and tampering with physical evidence and received a sentence of life. Steven Lawson, was also tried and convicted of conspiracy to murder and tampering with physical evidence.
