HAZARD (03/23/26) — State Police are investigating a fatal accident involving a KSP cruiser and trooper in eastern Kentucky. The trooper from the Hazard Post was responding to an emergency call along Kentucky 80 east in Knott County Sunday morning. Another vehicle, which was heading west on 80, attempted to turn left onto Perry Circle Road and drove into the path of the trooper’s vehicle. The Trooper sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was flown to UK Medical Center in Lexington. The driver and passenger in the other vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene by the Perry County Coroner’s Office. Their names have not yet been released, nor has the trooper’s identity.
