3/19/2026—The Cloverport Board of Education approved two bids from Joe Bennett Backhoe at their regular meeting Thursday evening.  The first bid of $18,500 was for demolition and removal of buildings located at 105 5th Street, and garages at 103 5th Street and 421 Poplar Street.  The second bid of $31,500 was for grading and graveling these locations.

 

In other business, the Board approved the salary schedule for the 2027 Fiscal Year.  Rank 1 and Rank 2 Certified staff will receive a 5% raise, and Rank 3 Certified Staff will receive a 2% raise.  Certified staff will receive raises that will keep their wages comparable to surrounding districts.  In a related matter, the Board approved the 2027 Fiscal Year pay date schedule.

 

The Board approved the 2026/27 District Calendar.  The first day of school for students is August 24.

 

The Board approved an addendum to the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan.  The addendum addresses data analysis and the professional learning community.

 

The Board approved members of the Turnaround Team.  District and School representatives: Keith Haynes, Teresa Smith, David Grossman, Leslie Bishop, Rachel Moore, and Devin Booty.  The team also includes Department of Education representatives Donna Bumps and Nicole Lyons.

 

The Board approved two out of state field trips for Seniors.  One to Squire Boone Caverns and the other to Sky Zone and Cici’s Pizza in Evansville, IN.

 

Dwight Ashley, Executive Director of the Kentucky Virtual Academy said KYVA has been accepted for Purple Star Award status.

 

Total enrollment in the Cloverport District is 271.

 

Total enrollment in KYVA is 2,282.

 

In personnel matters, the following have been hired for the 2025/26 school year: David Poole-Substitute Bus Driver; Susan Taul-Instructional Assistant; and Stephanie Brooke-Substitute Teacher.  The following have resigned: Ashley Cartwright-Cook/Baker; Sherry Jones-Custodian; and Pat Fuqua-FRYSC Coordinator(at the end of the year).
