3/16/2026—Kyle Brown presented the Cloverport City Council with a summary of the state agreement for improvements to the property at 224 West Main Street at their regular meeting Monday evening.  The shoring and bracing plan was approved on March 13.  Bracing and shoring must be completed within 60 days.  Engineering plans for detailed repair of the building must be presented by April 30.  If the owner fails to meet the agreement terms, state officials may direct demolition, which must occur within 14 days of the state directive and at the owner’s expense.

In a related matter, the state has received portions of a plan of correction for properties located at 229 and 231 West Main Street.

The Council discussed the amount of water loss each month.  Several options were considered to decrease the 73% loss in February, but no action was taken.

The Council approved a motion to switch trash deposit sites from Owensboro to Lewisport.

The Sheriff’s Department received 45 calls for service in Cloverport in February.

The Fire Department made 10 runs in February.  Austin Poole and Richard Daugherty have completed 20 hours of training.  The Department will host an Egg Hunt on April 4 and a Car Wash on April 25.

Mayor Candy Weatherholt said the city needs one member for the Planning and Zoning Board.  She said the city is conducting a water rate analysis.
