Local farmers are helping fellow farmers impacted by wildfires in Kansas and Oklahoma that have burned over 280,000 acres in the Midwest.

The Breckinridge County Cattleman’s Association collected farming and vet supplies over the past few weeks for wildfire relief efforts. Cattleman’s Association President Greg Roberson told WXBC News the community’s generosity has been tremendous. He said monetary donations totaled $2,300 for fuel to allow the delivery of the items.

Roberson thanked Greenpoint Ag for assisting with organizing the collection of items. He also thanked local farmers from Breckinridge, Hardin, and Larue counties for their time and help with delivering 500 square bails along with 213 round bails of hay and supplies over the 13 and half hour trip that ends about 900 miles in Knowles, Oklahoma. Roberson highlighted thanks to Mast Brothers, Ballman Farms, Hodges Farms, Compton Farms, and French Logging for their help and support.

Roberson estimated donations to total over $25,000. This is the fourth trip in recent years that the Breckinridge County Cattleman’s Association has made to help with relief efforts.
