Officials Break Ground For New Middle School

School officials and community members gathered Sunday (3/8) afternoon for the ground breaking of the new Breckinridge County Middle School.

The event was held at the old football field that will be razed to allow the construction of the new school building and athletic facility. Breckinridge County Schools Superintendent Dr. Nick Carter said the event “marked more than the start of construction but the beginning of a new future for students, staff and the community.”

Jennifer Cash representative of Sherman Carter Barnhart, who designed of the project discussed the challenges that brought a renovation project to the current project, while local elected officials discussed the team work, partnerships, and dedication to secure funding for the nearly $50 million project.
