Harned Man Facing Charges After Pursuit

A Harned man is facing at least 15 charges after he led police on a short pursuit around midnight Tuesday (3/3) night. According to the Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was operating a stationary speed patrol when a red 2005 Chevrolet pickup was traveling 72 in a 55 MPH speed limit in the 5300 block of Highway 259.

The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle as it pulled into a driveway. The pickup rammed the front of the deputy’s cruiser twice and pushed into the road before leading the deputy in a pursuit. During the pursuit, the pickup traveled south in the north bound lane running a vehicle off of the roadway. The pursuit ended in the 400 block of Wilson Wilderness Lane.

Deputies were able to remove and detain the driver, identified as 65 year-old Ernst Dean of Harned. Dean was charged with speeding 17 mph over the limit;  wanton endangerment of a police officer, 1st degree; wanton endangerment with a motor vehicle 1st degree; possession of substance, meth 1st degree, 1st offense; possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of marijuana; and failure to maintain insurance.

Dean was lodged in the Breckinridge County Detention Center.
