BARDSTOWN (01/07/26) — Kentucky State Police say a man is dead after an officer- involved shooting in Nelson County on Wednesday. Authorities were called after 80-year-old Norman Perkins of New Haven became disorderly inside the Nelson County Humane Society building and threatened people with a gun. Deputies located Perkins, who pulled his vehicle into a convenience store parking lot and pointed the gun at deputies trying to make contact with him. The deputies fired their weapons, hitting Perkins, who died at the scene. Neither deputy was injured but the incident is under investigation.
