
HAWESVILLE (12/31/25) — A candidate for Hancock County Sheriff Hancock County sheriff’s candidate was arrested on Monday in Owensboro on a fugitive warrant out of Louisiana, according to the Kentucky State Police. Troopers say William “Billy” Bozarth was taken into custody Monday on a warrant issued by the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office in Louisiana. The warrant for a 2023 charge of domestic battery with child endangerment. Authorities confirmed there is a full extradition order in place. Bozarth was booked into the Daviess County Detention Center. State police said he is expected to first make an appearance in Daviess County court. After that hearing, Louisiana authorities are expected to take custody of him and transport him back to Louisiana to face proceedings there. Records from the Hancock County Clerk’s candidate filing list show Bozarth officially filed to run for Hancock County sheriff on December 19 as a Republican.
