Man Arrested Following Police Pursuit In McLean, Daviess Counties

OWENSBORO (12/17/25) — Kentucky State Police are investigating after a police chase ended in a high speed crash late Tuesday night in Daviess County. A pursuit began in McLean County when a traffic stop resulted in driver Matthew Abney taking off when asked to exit the vehicle. A pursuit along U.S. 431 reached speeds over 120 mph before Abney wrecked his vehicle along Hill Bridge Road south of Owensboro. Abney was arrested and booked into the Daviess County Detention Center on charges including Fleeing or Evading Police, Wanton Endangerment and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
