McQUADY (12/02/25) — A Hardinsburg man was arrested Tuesday morning following an alleged domestic incident.

According to the Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was responding to a report of an accident when he was flagged down by a distraught woman along Highway 629. The woman told the deputy that a man was holding another woman at gunpoint at a nearby camper. It was determined the woman’s car ran off Kentucky 261 and she called the man for help. The suspect took her to the camper, but allegedly hit her and prevented the victim from leaving.

After taking the woman to a secured location, officers went to the camper, where they found 46-year-old Morris Matthews of Hardinsburg. Matthews surrendered without incident and booked into the Breckinridge County Detention Center on a charge of failure to appear and later charged with kidnapping, 4th degree assault, menacing and terroristic threatening.

Deputies were assisted by the Hardinsburg Police Department and Kentucky State Police.
