HARDINSBURG (11/01/25) — Eleven local veterans were honored for their service on Saturday with a “Quilt of Valor” during a ceremony over the weekend at the Breckinridge County Courthouse. The national “Quilts of Valor” foundation has provided over 400-thousand quilts to veterans and active-duty service personnel. The idea was borne out of a mother of a servicemember worried about her son overseas. Members of the Gold Vault Quilters made the presentations. Tori Twigg said the quilts bring a three-part message of honor, freedom and comfort…

A brief bio of their service was read to those attending while Gold Vault members along the Breckinridge County High School JROTC assisting in the presentation. Those honored were…

Sergeant First Class William Case…

Petty Office First Class Thomas Damico-Roach…

Staff Sergeant Scott Gavre…

Specialist Homer Gray, Jr….

Sergeant Major Merle Henry…

Petty Officer Second Class Tom Kimbro…

Sergeant Maurice Lucas…

Master Sergeant Kenneth Miller…

Sergeant Roy Olson…

Sergeant William Schroeder…

Specialist Randy Smallwood…

The recipients thanked those for attending and the Quilters for their efforts. The presentation coincided with the Travelling Vietnam Memorial Wall exhibit on display on the Courthouse Square this past weekend.
