The Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall has returned to Breckinridge County this weekend. A small crowd of people, several veterans or loved ones, gathered on the lawn of the old Breckinridge County Courthouse for the opening ceremony. Veteran Bob Monarch provided the keynote comments of the significance of the exhibit.
The exhibit is a miniaturized version of the actual wall in Washington, D.C. that bears names of those who served in the Vietnam War. The exhibit is open 24 hours. A Quilts of Valor Ceremony will be held Saturday afternoon 2 PM on the second floor of the Old Courthouse. A Closing Ceremony will be held Sunday afternoon at 5 with viewing to continue until early Monday morning.
The exhibit is presented by several community sponsors and the Breckinridge County Chamber of Commerce.
