10/14/2025—The Hardinsburg City Council approved the second reading of an ordinance amending the zoning map at their regular meeting Tuesday evening.  The amendment rezones 27.486 acres, located at the corner of Fred Phillips Lane and Old Highway 60, from Agriculture(AG) to Residential(R-1).

In other business, the Council approved a motion to make changes to the City Employee Handbook dealing with accrued vacation leave.

The Council approved a motion to participate in a settlement class survey that tests the level of PFAS contained in water coming from three well sources.  The tests will be performed at each well, at no cost to the city.

The Council approved adding the names of the new City Clerk and City Treasurer to all banking locations.

The Hardinsburg Police Department received 226 calls for service in September.  They made three misdemeanor arrests; issued 8 citations and three city citations; and worked four non-injury accidents.  They dealt with two alcohol/drug related offenses and one sex crime.  K9 Officer Seth Taylor and his dog Jedi have been officially certified.  Assistant Chief Adam Lucas said all future 5K’s in the city will be either run on Fairgrounds Road or the Thanksgiving Turkey Trot course.

The city issued one building permit in September.  Four Code Enforcement cases have been resolved, and five cases are ongoing.  It was emphasized that a city ordinance states all dogs must be on a leash.
