HENDERSON (10/01/25) — Kentucky State Police in Henderson are warning the public about a scam in which criminals are posing as funeral home representatives through text messages. Victims report receiving unsolicited texts claiming to be a funeral home representative- often using a real name associated with the facility- demanding payment for services immediately. The messages are fraudulent. Funeral homes do not request or process payments through text messaging. Do not respond to unexpected texts requesting payment and never share any personal or financial information with unknown numbers. If necessary, contact the funeral home directly using a verified phone number if you receive a suspicious message.
