OWENSBORO (09/04/25) — Two people are dead and a third is in critical condition after a crash Thursday afternoon on the Owensboro Bypass. The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office said an eastbound passenger car lost control just before the Highway 54 off ramp and overcorrected, crossed the median, and struck a westbound pickup truck head on, causing the car to catch fire. The driver and passenger in the car died, with the truck’s driver extricated from the vehicle and airlifted to Louisville. The road was closed for some five hours for cleanup and investigation.
