Cloverport City Council-Special Called Meeting

8/28/2025—The Cloverport City Council approved the second reading of an ordinance setting 2025 tax rates at a Special Called Meeting Thursday evening.  The real property tax rate is 31.1 cents per $100 assessed valuation and the tangible personal property tax rate is 35.3 cents per $100 assessed valuation.  The vote was 4-0.  Jenny Bradley and Derek Henderson did not attend the meeting.

 

In other business, the Council approved a motion to clarify an ordinance dealing with water bill due dates.  All bills are due on the 10th of the month.  Customers have an additional ten days from the tenth before the water will be disconnected.  Any complaint must be settled within 30 days from the tenth of the month.

 

The Council approved a resolution to file a funding application to the Kentucky Waters Program.  The city is seeking $158,000 for a “Cloverport Lead Service Line Inventory”.  The application will be submitted through the Kentucky Infrastructure Authority.

 

The city has a total of 548 meters. Of that total, 471 are classified as “unknown”.  By 2027, the city must replace 10% of all lead lines annually.
