
8/11/2025—The Breckinridge County Board of Education set tax rates for the 2025/26 school year at their regular meeting Monday afternoon. The real property tax rate is 56.9 cents per $100 assessed valuation, and the personal property tax rate is 57.3 cents per $100 assessed valuation. The tax rate last year was 57.4 cents for real and personal property.
In other business, the Board was told that the Middle School construction project is “on pause”. They are working on final arrangements to acquire adjacent property.
Kevin Coomes presented the District Safety Report. He said all schools except the Middle School have a mandated security vestibule. All district employees receive badges; volunteer coaches receive fobs; and visitors are checked via Raptor and receive a tag. All schools have cameras and keep recorded data for a month. HES and IES will complete a School Safety Assessment this year.
The Board reviewed “Your Duty Under the Law” and “Managing Government Records”.
The Board approved a contract with Radish Education Inc. The company uses Magma Math software.
The Head Start Program is fully enrolled with 165 students. The program will undergo two audits this school year.
An out of attendance area request was approved.
The Board approved annual hosting of the Saturday Morning Basketball Program.
