A large fish kill has been reported on the Ohio River, spanning the length of the county. Authorities in Hancock County have been in touch with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources and the State Environmental Protection Agency.

Fish and Wildlife officials said this is an uncommon but natural occurrence related to water temperatures and oxygen levels. Hancock County Emergency Management Officials will continue to monitor the situation and stay in contact with state authorities, but they have determined there is no danger at this time.
