Plane Crashes Near Airport; Two Transported For Treatment

(UPDATE, 12:45pm, Thu) — The Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Office says the LANCE air single engine plane went down in a valley about a half mile north of the Board of Education Central Office, not far from the end of the runway. The two occupants were already out of the plane by the time emergency personnel arrived at the scene, then transported from the scene. The area has been secured with traffic still restricted along Airport Road into the early afternoon. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Boatd will handle the investigation.

HARDINSBURG (07/24/25) — Two people were transported after a plane went down near Hardinsburg Thursday morning. According to Fire Chief Nathan Smith, the Hardinsburg department was notified just after 10am of a possible plane crash in the vicinity of the Breckinridge County Airport. The craft was located with the two occupants transported by Breck Central EMS for treatment. Motorists are still advised to avoid Airport Road as crews are still on-scene as of late morning.
