6/2/2025—The Irvington City Council heard the first reading of the budget for the Fiscal Year beginning July 1, 2025, at their regular meeting Monday evening.  The General Fund budget is $911,476.00 and the Water/Sewer budget is $1.010,491.00.  In a related matter, the Council also heard the first reading of the amended budget for the current Fiscal Year.  The General Fund budget is $919,158.00 and the Water/Sewer Budget is $1,415,735.00.  The Council will have the second reading of both budgets at a Special Called Meeting set for June 23 at 6:30pm EST.

 

In other business, the Council received no bids for three projects.  They are: repair of the cross at the Cedar Hill Cemetery, repair the roof of the old jail, and repair the concession stand at the Eva Carmen Park.  The council agreed to extend the bid process for an additional two weeks.

 

The Council approved four new business licenses.  They are: A and B Sheeran Properties; Dixie Plumbing and Heating; Action Compaction Solutions; and Simply Shine Pressure Washing.  A total of 62 business licenses have been sold since October.

 

249 city stickers have been sold between October and May.  They are on sale for $15.00.

 

Jane and Chris Perks addressed the Council regarding a rooster they own.  Ms. Perks said she has lived on the property across from Eva Carmen Park for forty years, with no complaints.

 

Mayor Charles Douglas Lucas said there will be a Juneteenth celebration at Eva Carmen Park on June 14.  Juneteenth is a holiday for city workers.  Fireworks at Eva Carmen Park will be held on June 28.

 

Prior to the Council meeting, a public hearing on LGEA and Road Aid Funds was held, but no one spoke.
